Well its about 3 months late due to an incompetent contractor that failed to do his job, but I’m finally happy to say that Ill be moving my equipment into the new shop TODAY! I have spent the last few days prepping the equipment, cleaning everything up, an getting my new workbench ready to roll into place. The new bench is something I designed and built out of 1/4″ plate steel top, and a 3″ square tube base. This thing is about 800lbs without the mill mounted. The mill is on a 2″ thick piece of steel as a riser and bolted through the table. Overall, probably 1100 Lbs which makes it quite the process to move. I welded it upside down and to flip it upright, it took about 2 hours! Its all good and as a bonus I still have all my fingers.
The floor is done, which was the main holdup. The contractor before screwed up the pour which left the floor unlevel and wavy with about 3/8″ height discrepancies over 2′ all over meaning NOTHING with 4 legs would ever sit flat. You could walk across the floor and easily feel the change in grade with each step. We scarified the floor to remove these dips, filled in the cracks with polyurea then topped it with 3 layers of epoxy, flake, and a polyaspartic top coat. Considering where we started, the floor looks AMAZING. Huge thanks to my guy Ozzy at Orion Epoxy Co!
